August 2020 Washington, DC Real Estate Report

After months of struggling to catch up from the deficit that COVID-19 put the DC real estate market in, home buyers and sellers burst to life last month. Area home sales climbed to a July ten-year best. In fact, it was the first time on record July closings improved over the month of June!

The number of closes sales in the city hit 956. The number of new listings soared to 1,495, up a whopping 42.9% from last year.

The median sales price for Washington, DC Homes for Sale hit $640,000 last month, which was up 8% from  July 2019. The median sales price was $620,000 in June.

New pending sales jumped an impressive 17% from last year.

This Month’s Most Expensive

The most expensive of all Washington, DC Homes for sale last month was a stately Georgetown six-bedroom home.  It sold for a touch over $6 million.

This Month’s Least Expensive

The least expensive of all Washington, DC homes for sale was a condo in the Bellevue neighborhood in need of a total rehab. The closing price was $71,000.
