Here’s your December Real Estate Market update.
Real Estate sales in the District of Columbia surged into record territory last month. The number of closed sales jumped 17.6% from a year ago. 687 transactions were completed in the month of November. As we predicted last month, the large number of pending sales in the prior month yielded a bumper crop of closed transactions in November.
The median sales price rose 3.3%, compared to the same time last year, to $620,000, which ties the all-time high for the city.
Overall, it is a great to sell, with our market experiencing extremely low inventory and home buyers creating strong demand. Despite the stiff competition, it is also a good time to purchase a home because of the historically low mortgage interest rates.
