Tight inventory of homes for sale continues to be the dominating feature of the DC area real estate market.  The lack of homes for sale continues to hamper potential buyers in their search for new homes.

In DC, condo & co-op sales took a leadership position last month, with 519 closings in February, which was a ten-year high for the month.

With the start of the spring buying season just around the corner, expect to see a sharp drop in days on the market across all housing types.  While booking home visits for buyers this weekend, I saw more buyers trying to schedule appointments than I have since I started in the business.  I anticipate that it is going to be a very competitive season.

As usual, potential home sellers are in an enviable position.

The number of closed sales in the city was 731, a 17% increase from last year.
