Moh Moh…Licious Makes a Colorful Splash
Upper Georgia Avenue received a tasty international treat a few months ago with the opening of Moh Moh…Licious a new restaurant featuring Nepalese cuisine. The name “Moh Moh” comes from the local term for dumplings. Executive Chef Samrat “Sam” Proudel says that his mission is to serve Nepalese and Himalayan food to the people of DC and introduce Nepali cuisine to the world.
Sam and his business partner Farouq Munir got their start three years ago in DC’s burgeoning food truck scene. Sam is a graduate of a culinary and management program here in the United States. After several years of success and growth, they decided to plant their brick and mortar roots here in our community.
As mentioned, the cuisine is a twist of styles that are popular in the Himalayan cultures. Due to their proximity, India and China have had a heavy influence on the palette as well. Sam says that his three signature dishes are
- Thukpa, a noodle soup
- Himalayan Rice Bowls.
My husband tried the steamed pork dumplings with the Soy Ginger sauce a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it. He said they were some of the best dumplings he’d ever had! Today, I had a taste of the flavorful noodle soup and I also found it to be delicious; the spices and seasoning really stood out.
In addition to these favorites, the shop also offer breakfast items like bagels, assorted seafood and fresh smoothie and coffee drinks.

We are happy to have this new flavor destination to explore, right here in our own neighborhood. I enjoyed my visit and conversation with Sam, and I would recommend that you all stop by for a coffee and say hello as well. We will definitely dine here again in the future.
