Love Living DC is Washington’s #1 real estate team for dependable neighborhood expertise. In this episode, Realtor Jennell Alexander visits Moreland’s Tavern an exciting uptown bar and restaurant. She chats with co-owner Matt Croke to see how they are bringing people together in 16th Street Heights.
Where Everyone Knows Your Name
We’ve written before about “third places” – locations other than home or work that people can meet and socialize. Third places are important because that’s where we exchange ideas, have a good time and build relationships. If scientists built a perfect “third place” in a lab, it would probably look a lot like Moreland’s Tavern.
The owners have put their unique location at the intersection of 14th, Colorado and Kennedy Streets to good use. The wide sidewalks are adorned with a plentiful patio seating. Inside, there are two floors, each with table seating and a bar. The environment is warm and inviting, with plenty of touches to make you feel at home. Two of the owners live in the neighborhood, so their love for the District is evident throughout the décor.
Great Food and Drink
In a city that is making a name for itself in the culinary space, it is great to have an outpost here in our community where good food, great service and reasonably priced drinks are on tap. The menu includes renditions of American classics such as Fried Maryland Catfish, mussels and hanger steak. Traditional bar fare and a sensible kids’ menu come in handy as well.
Tuesday night Trivia is also a main attraction.
Moreland’s Tavern is a special amenity here to serve Kennedy Street, 16th Street Heights and the Uptown area. As co-owner Matt Croke stated in our interview, “We offer great food, cocktails, craft beers and room for neighbors to meet.”
Come on down to the gathering spot and join the community!
The restaurant is open for happy hour and dinner Monday through Friday and brunch on weekends. It also offers space for private events.
