When old fishermen get together, they sit around and tell each other stories about “the BIG ONE that got away.” Do Realtors do the same thing? If so, expect to see me in my Realtor’s rocking chair, telling my grandkids about the day I ALMOST SOLD the President’s house. (Nevermind that I’ve never been closer than 30 feet from the President and First Lady Michelle Obama.)
The juicy real estate news of the week is that the former First Family just purchased the Kalorama mansion that they had been renting, for a cool $8.1 million. Some lucky Realtor is going to have quite a Christmas bonus this year.
“Given that President and Mrs. Obama will be in Washington for at least another two and a half years, it made sense for them to buy a home rather than continuing to rent property,” spokesman Kevin Lewis said.
I couldn’t have said it better myself! Actually, two years is a pretty short turnaround, but who am I to quibble with the President? It will be terrific to have this classy family in town for a while longer.
The local market is finally beginning to heat up a bit to match the intensity of the rest of the region.
