Shepherd Park Neighborhood Library Returning to Takeout Service

The following is a notice from the Juanita Thornton/Shepherd Park Neighborhood Library concerning a change in their service model due to the rise in COVID-19 cases throughout the city

Hey Shepherd Park Community!

I am Ms. Tacia from the Juanita E. Thornton/Shepherd Park Neighborhood Library. I hope everyone safe and warm. Check out our branch programs and DC Public Library updates below. For information on district wide library programs, check out the calendar here.

Operation & Holiday Hours

Beginning tomorrow 12/23, we will be returning to a contact-less Takeout service model. This means that patrons will not be allowed inside the building. Patrons will be able to pick up items placed on hold, return items, pick up print jobs, window browse a limited collection of books and DVDs, and pick up any of our programs.

December 24: 10am-2pm

December 25: CLOSED

For details of our hours until Jan 2nd, 2021 click here.

DC Government’s In-School Program

The goal of the program is to help prepare District youth to successfully transition from high school into post-secondary education, advanced training, unsubsidized employment, or a career in the military. Teens ages 14-21 can apply during the school year to gain academic enrichment activities, work-readiness skills, project-based learning, life skills and leadership development. If your teen is interesting, please fill out the application here.

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey | A Holiday Conversation with the Creators

Tomorrow, Wednesday 12/23, we enjoy this holiday season by welcoming David E. Talbert and Lyn Sisson-Talbert, the creators of Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey on Netflix for a discussion with the Library’s Ryan Williams. Together they will discuss the process of writing and creating this new holiday classic. Click here to learn more and join the event!

Holidays at Home

Enjoy the holidays at home with DC Public Library. Cook new dishes, create do-it-yourself holiday décor, dance around the house to holiday music and more by exploring the Library’s online resources. Each week, now through New Year’s Day, we will reveal a new and festive category to make your holiday merry and bright. Having fun isn’t hard when you’ve got your library card! Click here for more information.
