Video: Aspen Street Widening Interview

Following my post on the ANC 4A May meeting, I was asked to participate in an interview on the potential Aspen Street Widening with neighborhood news blog DCCompass.

Aspen Street WideningDCCompass is a local news and events video journal operated by Mr. Garrett Moore, a veteran media professional.  DC Compass has conducted several interviews with Ward 4 area businesses and personalities.  The brief but entertaining videos include chats with Councilmember Brandon Todd and new Fourth District Commanding Officer Randy Griffin.  They have conducted fun profiles of neighborhood favorites Simple Bar & Grill, Peaches and more.

Aspen Street Widening

You can read the full background of the Aspen Street Widening project here. To summarize, the District Department of Transportation and the master developer of the upcoming Walter Reed campus have proposed to widen the entire length of Aspen Street NW from Georgia Ave to 16th Street to improve pedestrian, cyclist and vehicle safety. The measure is complicated because the widening would require the demolition of two historically protected support buildings on the campus.  The immediate neighbors in the vicinity of Aspen and 13th Streets aren’t too happy about the prospect either.
