A mysterious alien artifact has given humanity the means to colonize over a thousand distant stars. This should be a time of plenty and peace. But the sins of the past return to cast a shadow over all of mankind. (Note: My husband will tell anybody who will listen that this is the best show currently on television, and perhaps the best sci-fi program of all time.)

Tensions rise between Ma Rainey, her ambitious horn player and the white management determined to control the uncontrollable “Mother of the Blues”.
